Over the weekend of Jan 27-28, I participated in the Festival of Learning at the Media Lab. It was a student organized event in the spirit of the MIT Independant Activities Period. I organized a session on MMOs with Joi Ito and we did a demo using Star Wars: The Old Republic as it is a new MMO. We tried to demo gameplay with other members of our guild but soon realized that it was difficult to demo "fun" by having people watch us play so we switched to letting people roll their own characters and playing themselves. This was the first MMO workshop I've helped organize and I hope to do plenty more.

Project status: Complete with working prototype
A programmable physical notification system that can be connected to your calendar, Facebook or any other online interface. The cylinders pop out when a notification pops up on your computer and you can push the cylinder back to get more details of the notification as well as to dismiss it. Prototype is working with Google calendar notifications. The colors of cylinders represent the categories of notifications and the degree to which the cylinder pops out represents urgency.
